Let's get straight to saving you some money on your international calls.
If you are calling either from or to the US on a regular basis, and the person
outside of the US has a broadband internet connection - here's a great way to
save a ton of money: broadband phone service.
Let's say, for example, your in New Zealand. You can sign up for a broadband
phone service and get a US phone number. People in the US call that number to
connect to you, and you can call out from that number to connect to them. No
international charges. You can make unlimited calls back and forth from the US
for just about $20/month.
Broadband phone service is great for businesses as well. You can get several US
numbers for your US based customers. The call goes to the US number and is
routed over the internet to your location.
Travelers can also use broadband phone service. You just take your modem
adaptor with you as you travel, and you can use it anyplace that you have a
high speed internet connection. Yep, your phone number travels with you.
